start-up venture Peech

Start-up company ‘Peech’ funded generously by Ukrainian investors

Andrey Poznyak, a 30-year-old technology entrepreneur from Belarus and founder of start-up company ‘Peech’, had previously spent 6 months behind bars for protesting Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko’s barbaric control over civil society, after his fraudulent claim to victory in the August 2020 election.

What does the app do?

After making his way to Ukraine, along with many other techies, he founded ‘Peech’ last Autumn. Peech is a mobile app that is capable of reading aloud any content in almost 60 languages. This includes PDF’s, articles, books, social media threads and more.

We know what you are thinking…does it sound robotic like Siri? Well, Peech has been able to make the audio sound pretty natural, thanks to machine learning, which was music to our ears when we found out. It is said that the app still has room for improvement.

The investment

The app turned the heads of Ukrainian investors who swiftly and generously made a large investment of $550,000 – specifically from investment fund ‘Flyer One Ventures’ in order to help the start-up to expand into the US and the rest of Europe.

However, the process hasn’t ran as smoothly as hoped. The war in Ukraine is creating hiring, funding, and client attraction obstacles, but the founders do have plans to improve technology with the use of AI, which will help support their goal to secure 500,000 downloads and 15,000 paying customers by the end of the year.

The tech sector seems to be one of the only connections left between Ukraine and Belarus due to Belarus’ involvement in Russia’s war, and as a result, the team at Peech is scattered across countries, including Poland, Georgia, Portgual, Bahram and the remaining in Ukraine.

With a hectic start to the business, what are your thoughts on Peech?
