Effective Emailing Techniques for C-Suite members

As we’re all aware time is arguably of the essence when it comes to the c-suite. They have a lot on their plate whether it’s running a Fortune 500 fintech company or a start-up. We’ve put together some top tips to guide you with effective emailing.

Communication is key

Quick decisions need to be made in fast-paced environments such as in the disruptive technology-driven organisations we are working with at TechNET CxO.  As we all know, time is money. So, save precious time on writing an email that requires a more detailed response and schedule a call. We advise you to be proactive and set up a call the moment you sit down to compose the said email.  If you feel as though the call needs to last longer, perhaps arranging a time to meet with the person over lunch is a great option. Helping build a rapport.

Be concise

Alternatively, if communicating the points are your top priority then concise, bullet-pointed emails are equally as effective.

Equality is a priority

Be careful not to judge people on their job title or function. It’s great to be a leader who treats everyone with the same importance. After all, we all had to start somewhere with the dreams of being where we are today than we were yesterday. You will find it’s great for the development of those who are growing and developing within junior roles as it gives them confidence when communicating within a business.

Consider international colleagues

It’s important to consider your colleagues who are working internationally. Especially if you are aiming to develop a fruitful working relationship, it’s great to be thoughtful of other’s working times. For example, adding in the specific country to your world clock so that you are aware of the global working hours. If you email when others are online, you are more likely to get the task at hand completed.

Always respond

According to Forbes.com you should never open an email, read it, and close it ever.  It’s paramount that you are proactive in responding to all communications that come your way to do your job to the best of your ability. We appreciate that the inbox can feel overwhelming at times however, even so, it’s great to communicate this with your colleagues. Send a reply stating you’re looking into this and will certainly come back to them on it soon. Then remark the email as ‘unread’ and set a reminder on your calendar at a better predicted time.

Now that you have been refreshed on some C-suite emailing basics, let’s put them to practice and send us an enquiry. Is this the start of something new?
