Ghanaian startup providing virus test kits for African Nations

Ghana startup mPharma has been playing a key role in the response to COVID-19 this year in terms of increasing testing capacity to countries in Africa.

The company has been working to build successful supply chains for prescription medications to improve Africa’s healthcare and supply of critical drugs.

This year, the effects of COVID-19 on stocking life-saving medicines globally has been drastic. Pharmacies are experiencing ‘stock-outs’, preventing vulnerable patients from getting their hands on the medicine they need.

Since February, mPharma has been working in partnership with one of China’s leading molecular diagnostic companies to secure hundreds of testing equipment and test kits which they have been able to mobilise to different countries across Africa.

Having seen a considerable rise in virus cases in Africa since April, mPharma has been able to utilise their reliable supply chains to secure coronavirus diagnostic testing supplies and equipment so that continent-wide testing can take place.
