UK ranked second best start-up hub in the world
After moving up a spot, the UK has ranked the second-best start-up hub in the world, following closely behind US, Silicon Valley to be specific, according to the 2022 Global Start-up Ecosystem Index.
London is now home to at least 80 unicorns and has a start-up ecosystem value of $314 billion according to the report, which is almost triple Berlin’s and Paris’. Regardless of the struggles that came with building a start-up business during the pandemic and Brexit, London has kept it’s spot for 3 years in a row.
The UK have an impressive 78 cities ranking in total, which means we are the only country, other than the US, with more than 50 cities in the index. Alongside this, London is also the only non-US city in the top 5!
Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, has said:
London’s tech sector is going from strength-to-strength and I’m proud we’re the tech and innovation capital of Europe. I hope this sends a clear message to aspiring tech entrepreneurs that the capital is a fantastic place to start a business.”
We are pleased to say that many UK cities have established the right environment for start-up business to flourish across several sectors, including fintech, leisure, sales, and science.
